Hector & McCleary's narrow defeat

13 June 2015

Uruguay sneak 1-0 victory

Michael Hector and Garath McCleary both played in a narrow Copa America defeat for Jamaica on Saturday night.

Uruguay took a very tight 1-0 win thanks to a set piece goal from Cristian Rodriguez, and Jamaica were unlucky not to get a result against a side spearheaded by Edinson Cavani.

Former Royals Jobi McAnuff and Adrian Mariappa also started as Winfriend Schafer's side performed very well.

Goal.com wrote, "Uruguay were arguably second best to an impressive Jamaica team for the majority of the game and are only able to leave with a victory thanks to an instinctive close-range strike from Rodriguez.

"The Reggae Boyz will feel hard done by, and rightly so, after putting in such a strong and admirable performance at both ends of the pitch."
