Royals drawn against Colchester in Capital One Cup

16 June 2015

Tie to take place on week commencing August 10th

Reading will travel to Colchester United in the first round of next season's Capital One Cup.

The tie will be contested at the Weston Homes Community Stadium on the week commencing August 10th. An exact kick-off time and date will be published on www.readingfc.co.uk once it has been confirmed.

Colchester narrowly avoided relegation from League One last season, securing their status on the final day of the season, and the two clubs last met in competitive action in January of 2002.

The Royals met Newport County at the first round stage last season, where goals from Pavel Pogrebnyak, Nick Blackman and Craig Tanner - his first in professional football - earned Reading a 3-1 win.

A solitary strike from Jake Taylor away at Scunthorpe United ensured that the Royals progressed into round three. The third round proved to be our final involvement in last year's competition as we bowed out at Derby County, but we went on to avenge the defeat both in the FA Cup fifth round and on the final day of the league season, earning 2-1 and 3-0 victories respectively.
