Royals welcome Thai Airways on board

29 June 2015

New sponsor will feature on away shirt for 2015/16

Reading Football Club can officially announce a unique and exciting new sponsorship deal with Thai Airways, the airline with which Steve Clarke and his squad are set to travel to Thailand for their pre-season match.

The flag carrier airline of Thailand, who are based in Bangkok, will see their logo appear on the team's new 2015/16 away shirt as part of a ground breaking partnership with Reading Football Club.

Flying to 78 destinations connecting 35 different countries, Thai Airways has one of the largest passenger operations in Europe, boasting a fleet of more than 80 aircraft in total.

An internationally renowned brand, Thai Airways are currently also enjoying a sponsorship agreement with Thai Premier League side Bangkok United  - but this will be the airline's first shirt sponsorship deal and its debut partnership in English football.

"Reading’s developing fanbase in Thailand, strong brand identity and proximity to Heathrow, make them a valuable partner for our brand," said Mr. Suraphon Israngura Na Ayuthya, EVP, Commercial of Thai Airways.

"We continue to see immeasurable value in global sports sponsorships and our partnership with Reading brings us to a new market. We were hugely impressed by how well our sponsorship of the club worked at the FA Cup Semi-Final and we are confident this will continue as part of our new deal.

“Through our global network and this new agreement, we hope to be able to unite and engage with Reading’s fantastic fans, and coupled with the club’s developing global fanbase this makes for a strong match,” added Mr. Suraphon Israngura Na Ayuthya of Thai Airways.

Adam Benson, Head of Commercial Sales at Reading Football Club, added: "It is really exciting for the club to agree its first ever away shirt sponsorship deal with a global brand such as Thai Airways. Everyone at the club is looking forward to the start of a pioneering new agreement."
As the finer details of the sponsorship deal have only just been finalised, our brand new 2015/16 away strip will not be available for fans to purchase at the start of the season. However, be sure to look out for the official launch of the kit during our new Sky Bet Championship campaign.
It was announced earlier this month that Thailand-based drinks company Carabao will sponsor our home shirt in 2015/16, while Waitrose are set to continue as a valued partner of the club - details of a significant new deal with the supermarket chain are due to be confirmed shortly.
