Mackie: Goal gives us belief

4 March 2015

“Without a doubt I enjoyed that one!"

Jamie Mackie is hopeful that his last minute equaliser at the Macron Stadium can galvanise the Reading squad for the remainder of the season.

The on loan Nottingham Forest forward fired home in the 93rd minute to grasp a point for Steve Clarke’s men, clawing back some crucial momentum as the Royals look to steer clear of any relegation trouble.

“Without a doubt I enjoyed that one,” Mackie told BBC Berkshire. “It really, really kicks us on now and gives us a little bit more belief for the league games coming up. We’ve shown we have got character in the changing room and resolve, a point away from home is a good result and it kicks us forward for the league games coming up.”

Although veteran striker Eidur Gudjohnsen did give Bolton a lead on the hour mark, more top work from Adam Federici ensured that the Trotters could not extend their lead – and Mackie was quick to pay tribute to Reading’s number one.

“Adam Federici made some incredible saves once again, I don’t know how he did it – he is top, top drawer every week. He’ll say that’s his job but he’s phenomenal, a great goalkeeper and we are lucky to have him in the sticks.”
