A closer look at Jamie's hot streakAfter last night's win over Brighton, Steve Clarke rightly described Jamie Mackie as 'a striker on a hot streak' and we've got a closer look at the 29-year-old's current form.
Mackie would be the first to admit that it's been a team effort to pick up some important results in recent weeks - but from our fans' perspective his individual performances have warranted recognition.
Some key points:
- He was voted our Player of the Month for February, picking up his award before last night's game. He also won our February Goal of the Month for his strike away at Ipswich and after another two goals, he was named Man of the Match against Brighton.
- Reading have not lost in the four games when he's scored for us:
Rotherham 4th Nov: Won 2-1
Ipswich 21st Feb: Won 1-0
Bolton 3rd Mar: Drew 1-1
Brighton (2) 10th Mar: Won 2-1
- His overall Reading record is 17(+11) appearances, five goals and four assists.
- He gave his shirt from the Bradford game to a Reading fan he'd met at the training ground a few weeks ago.
As we mentioned earlier, it's been very much a team effort in the last few weeks and months, and with more key games coming up, Mackie and his fellow Royals will be looking to continue to build on last night's win in the fixtures ahead, starting at Watford on Saturday.
