Reading FC Women kick off their 2015 season tonight when they travel to Yeovil Town in FA Women’s Super League 2.
Last term, the Royals finished third in the table having won 13 of their 18 league matches, and having finished the campaign as the division’s top scorers with 60 goals.
The performances of striker Fran Kirby, who notched 29 times over the course of the season, saw her gain international recognition with England.
Kirby made a goalscoring debut for her country in the 5-0 win over Sweden last summer and, in November, she came off the bench at Wembley Stadium against Germany in front of 45,000 spectators.
Kirby was name Player of the match in the Three Lions’ recent defeat to USA in Milton Keynes and also took part in England’s successful campaign in this month’s Cyprus Cup.
England travel to Canada in June for this summer’s World Cup and, if selected, Kirby could become the club’s first representative at the worldwide showpiece.
