How Fosu set an Academy record

5 May 2015

Winger makes it 11 debuts this season

Winger Tariqe Fosu became the eleventh Academy player to make his debut this season, coming on to great effect in our 3-0 win against Derby.

The 19-year-old was introduced in the first half for Jack Stacey, who was making his first start in a Reading shirt, and both youngsters played very well.

Eleven debutants in one season represents an incredible achievement for our Academy - the previous best was four in one season, and the fruits of the work put in by Eamonn Dolan, Nick Hammond, Martin Kuhl et al over many years are really coming to the fore.

It was a great weekend for our youth setup - the under 18s defeated Liverpool 3-0 on Saturday, and the Under 21s made it seven wins in a row by beating Aston Villa 1-0 on Friday night, to close in on promotion to the top division, having won the first ever Premier League U21s cup last season.
