Kind gesture from Chris Gunter to injured ballboy

Full-back sends signed boots

A kind gesture from Chris Gunter saw the Reading full-back send a pair of signed boots to Rotherham United ballboy Josh Gaze shortly after the two sides' league game at the end of April.

Josh sustained a knee injury after he was involved in a first half collision when Millers defender Danny Lafferty and Gunter collided in the corner of the pitch at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

A number of players and staff from both clubs checked up on Josh’s condition after the game, with Lafferty giving him his match-worn boots and, following a delivery from the postman a few days after the match, Josh had another pair to add to his collection.

Along with signing the boots, the Welsh international wrote on them: "To Josh, Hope you have a very speedy recovery mate! Best wishes"

The Royals made contact with the Millers following the game and Chris expressed his concern about Josh’s injury. Following dialogue between the two clubs, the Royals’ defender made it clear that he would like to give the Millers’ ballboy a pair of his boots, which he then sent to AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Rotherham United have thanked Chris for his kind gesture and Reading would once again like to wish Josh all the best in his recovery from his injury.
