Reading vs Swansea City
Friday 24th July, 7.45pm
Adams Park, Wycombe Wanderers FC
Pre-season friendly

The Royals will take on Premier League opposition in the form of Garry Monk’s Swansea City when they meet the Welsh top flight side at Wycombe Wanderers’ Adams Park on Friday 24th July.

The fixture, scheduled to kick off at 7.45pm, forms part of our pre-season schedule and will prove a stern test for Steve Clarke’s side who will pit their wits against a City side who finished in 8th place in the top tier last season.

The friendly will take place at the home of the Chairboys with a view to a partnership between the two clubs next season, which it is hoped will see the Royals’ under-21s play a number of their Barclays U21 Premier League fixtures at Adams Park in 2015-16. This agreement remains subject to ratification from the relevant football authorities.

Reading have met the Swans twice in the last two pre-season campaigns, losing to goals from Michu, Jonjo Shelvey and Pablo Hernandez in July 2013 before Nick Blackman’s spectacular strike was cancelled out by a Wayne Routledge brace and a late Bafetimbi Gomes chip at Madejski Stadium the following year.

The last competitive fixtures between the two sides came in the Premier League when the teams drew 0-0 at on Boxing Day 2012 at Madejski Stadium following a pulsating 2-2 encounter at the Liberty Stadium earlier that year.

This fixture is sandwiched in between two away friendlies against League Two opposition, as pre-season games at Bristol Rovers (Tuesday 21st July, 7.45pm) and Crawley Town (Monday 27th July, 7.45pm) have already been announced.

Ticketing information for the clash will be announced in due course. www.readingfc.co.uk will be the first place for fans to find out any additional pre-season information and fixtures.
