Reading’s Head of Academy Operations Will Oldham running for Rory Walworth Memorial Fund

Reading’s Head of Academy Operations Will Oldham is embarking on a mammoth challenge next month as he attempts to run 340 miles in eight days to raise money for charity.

The 25-year-old will be running the incredible distance on behalf of the Rory Walworth Memorial Fund, which was set up by the family of Rory Walworth, a school friend of Will who died in a cycling accident in 2009.

The fund feeds into American charity Wheels 4 Life, which provides bicycles for individuals, families and communities in developing countries.

Will has named his challenge the Big School Run and, once underway on June 6th, he will be running to every school that he and Rory played rugby against before concluding his epic journey at the school that they both attended in Salisbury, Bishop Wordsworth's Grammar School.

Reading’s Head of Sports Science Nick Harvey and Academy Sports Scientist Ollie Harrington will each be completing one leg of the journey alongside Will, with each leg consisting of just over one and-a-half marathons.

Fans can donate to the cause and show their support for Will by clicking here.

The Big School Run is on Twitter and Facebook, and supporters will be able to keep up-to-date on Will’s progress via these social media channels between June 6th and 13th.
