A preview of the Terriers meeting at Madejski
Reading vs Huddersfield Town
Tuesday 3rd November 2015, 8pm
Sky Bet Championship
Football moves along quickly – we’ve barely drawn the curtain on the weekend’s score-draw with league leaders Brighton & Hove Albion and we’re already looking ahead to a midweek fixture against Huddersfield Town.
While the Terriers arrive off the back of consecutive defeats, they have certainly proven capable of winning matches this season – Charlton, Bolton and MK Dons have all been vanquished by the West Yorkshire club in the past six weeks.
So as always it’ll need a special effort on the pitch (and in the stands) to earn the right result under the Madejski Stadium floodlights.

Reading manager Steve Clarke: “It’s another Championship game so we don’t take anything for granted. We know Huddersfield will come in off the back of a defeat [at Burnley] so they’ll be determined to get something out of the game. For us, it’s to try and find the level of performance that will get us the three points.”
Referee Brendan Malone is taking charge of his first Championship game of the 2015/16 season when he arrives at Madejski Stadium – the Wiltshire-based official recently oversaw the Devon Derby between Plymouth and Exeter, as our loanee Craig Tanner scored a fine solo effort for the Pilgrims to help knock the Grecians out of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
Malone was most recently at Madejski Stadium in January, when goals by Pavel Pogrebnyak and Nathaniel Chalobah helped the Royals to a 2-0 victory against Sheffield Wednesday. He’ll have John Busby and Justin Amey running the flanks, while the fourth official is Lee Collins.
The Royals are fancied as odds-on home favourites at 3/4 by bookmakers Sky Bet, title partners of the Football League. The Terriers are 15/4 to come away with the points, and the draw is priced 13/5.
Matej Vydra opened his account against Brighton on Saturday and you can get odds of 2/1 for him to find the net again. Meanwhile Nick Blackman, our leading goalscorer to date, is 5/4 to extend his tally with a goal at any time.
Thanks to our Official Pouring Rights Partner, Heineken, Royals fans can enjoy a beverage at the brand new ‘Royals Rendezvous’ before the game. Located outside the East Stand the new area is an ideal place to catch up and enjoy a drink with fellow fans before the action kicks off!
From 1pm supporters can visit the Royals Fun Zone, just outside the North Stand, Gate 6. Football based games will be available for young fans to put their skills to the test! The Fun Zone will also be open at half-time for supporters to come and have fun.
And don’t forget to get your Golden Gamble ticket – the draw, sponsored by STAR, will be made at half-time. Tickets can be purchased from designated sellers based around the stadium, for just £1. There are two prizes up for grabs: a cash prize or an item of Reading FC merchandise, signed by the team! All funds go to the Reading FC Community Trust. We don’t have many sellers attending the game – so make sure you get your ticket whenever you spot an opportunity!
