G-Mac hopes to make it a good week

McCleary wants to build on Brighton draw against Terriers

Winger Garath McCleary hopes that a well-earned draw against league leaders Brighton & Hove Albion at Madejski Stadium is just the start of a good week for the Royals.

Reading showed plenty of character to come from behind to take a draw against the table-toppers – Matej Vydra’s first goal for his new club cancelled out Jamie Murphy’s earlier effort.  And with another home fixture around the corner against Huddersfield this Tuesday, he hopes for a maximum return against the Terriers.

“We did really well to get back into the game,” reflected McCleary after the draw with Brighton.  “It was a tough game between two teams that are right up there. Brighton have done really well to maintain their league position this season, but I felt we played really well in spells and hopefully now we can look to get three points on Tuesday after a point here.
“Brighton are very well organised; if you come from behind in any game it’s a job well done.  We’re a bit unfortunate not to win at the end, but it was a good game and I hope the fans enjoyed it even without us getting the win.
“We had a few chances and we kept theirs down to a minimum.  It’s games like these that you want to play in against top of the table teams and if we can get three points on Tuesday it will look like the start of a good week.

“I’ve said before that it’s definitely tough to play any team in this league and you can drop points and pick up points against anyone.  We’ve done well this season so hopefully we can kick on now and find our winning touch again.”

Kick-off against the Terriers on Tuesday 3rd November is at 8pm at Madejski Stadium – for ticket information, just click here.
