Royals midfielder Lucas Piazon was happy to open his Madejski Stadium account in a 2-1 win against Bolton Wanderers.

After two goals on the road for the Royals, it was the first time the Brazilian had found the back of the net on home turf.  After Prince-Desire Gouano had his clearance charged down by Piazon, he grabbed the loose ball and dinked it beyond Ben Amos to open the scoring.

“The defender tried to kick it long, and I was pressing him – I blocked it and the ball came forward in front of me,” he said after the match.  “I saw the ‘keeper coming and he was too close, so I tried to kick it over him – I was happy with that.

“Sometimes it is hard – the games are very tough, but it is good to be scoring.  It is my first goal here at Madejski Stadium, so it’s a special feeling.”

Danny Williams netted his second home goal of the campaign to double the lead, and despite a penalty 10 minutes from time by Liam Feeney, the Royals held out to win.

It ended a run of winless games for Reading, and Lucas is hopeful that the Royals can start building some momentum again.

We have been a few games without a win, and we got the three points – it’s good to be winning again,” he said.

“Especially in the second half we were working hard to keep the result and stay 2-0 up – I think we did enough to get the three points.  We defended very well – normally when the game goes to 2-1, they come in very aggressive.  I think we defended and held out very well.

“It was about time we won – we were five games without a win.  We are close to the top six again and that is what we want.

“We have a couple of days off now, so we’ll start again next week, we’ll prepare well, and hopefully we can get another win next weekend.”
