Royals get home draw in FA Youth Cup

18 November 2015

Blades or Spireites to visit Madejski Stadium

Our Under-18 team have been drawn at home in the third round of the FA Youth Cup, where we will face the winner of the second-round tie between Chesterfield and Sheffield United.

As with all FA Youth Cup matches, the fixture will take place at Madejski Stadium and we will discover whether it will be the Spireites or the Blades that shall be out visitors when the two rivals meet on Tuesday 24th November at the Proact Stadium.

Once we know our opponents, we will begin arrangements for the precise date, time and ticketing arrangements for the fixture and we will announce in due course.

As recently as the 2013/14 season, we had our best ever run in the competition by reaching the semi-final – eventually though it was Fulham who booked a place in the final by edging a 5-4 aggregate win over two legs, with a 90th-minute winner in the second game.

With our youngsters poised second in the Barclays Under-18 Premier League (South) table, following a 3-2 win against Swansea City on Saturday, the Royals’ Academy starlets will have their sights set on a fourth round place.

So we hope you’ll be able to join us as we get behind the young Royals!  In the meantime, you can check out the U18s’ fixtures & results for the 2015/16 season by clicking here.
