The skipper’s notes: Bolton Wanderers

A preview of Paul McShane’s programme column

Royals captain Paul McShane has penned his latest column for 'The Royal', our matchday programme, which will be on sale around the ground at Madejski Stadium this afternoon.  He previews the clash with Bolton Wanderers, reflects on Ireland's achievements and looks to the future with Reading - and here's a preview of his column...

He writes: “After starting the season so well. we the last few games have been disappointing for everyone at the club.  It has been a bit of a reality check in a way, and I hope we can get back into winning ways today, playing as well as we were at the start of the season.  We want to put the last few results behind us and we've all had a bit of a break in the fixtures - so hopefully everyone's come back refreshed and ready for the challenge ahead.

"Today won't be easy though - these games are difficult.  We came up against a struggling Huddersfield side in our last home game and we made a game should have won very hard for ourselves.  We can't do that in games, we can't be gifting our opponents goals the way we did against Huddersfield and Cardiff.  It was too easy and we can't hand teams head starts like that, or we will make life very difficult for ourselves.

"So get behind us today and give us all the encouragement you can."

Pick up a copy of ‘The Royal’ around the ground for £3 and read the skipper’s full programme notes.  We also go into detail on our opponents Bolton Wanderers, and Anton Ferdinand is the feature interview this week.
