Club asks fans to help create another legacy project to be proud of...
Last season, Royals fans united in an incredible show of support for #RyansRoyals, a community legacy project inspired by a 14-year-old pupil from The Avenue School named Ryan Duval.
Diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, Royals fan Ryan designed a new Reading shirt as part of his school work at The Avenue back in 2014 and when a number of first team players visited Ryan and his classmates later that year, he left a big impression and sparked a unique community project.
Wanting to do something special for a fantastic fan and a wonderful school, the #RyansRoyals project began, gathering pace to the extent that Ryan’s shirt design was made into a first team strip by Puma, which Steve Clarke’s side then sported for ninety Madejski Stadium minutes in an extraordinary fixture against Blackburn Rovers back in April 2015.
Ryan went on to be mascot for the team at Wembley, while the match-worn shirts were auctioned off as slices of commemorative Reading Football Club history – and in September we handed over a cheque for an incredible £15,000 to The Avenue School Special Needs Academy which will help the school to continue their remarkable work to support other students like Ryan in the local area.
We want to do something extraordinary for someone exceptional…all over again!
Following the success of such a unique tailored community-based project and having witnessed the overwhelmingly positive reaction from our loyal supporters, the local community and football fans throughout the country, Reading Football Club wants to hand our fans the opportunity to help create another legacy project for one very special Royal.
We know there are so many stories from the stands that remain untold, fans who support this club through rain or shine, the highs and lows and yet who are thoroughly deserving of our support in return.
This club has always had its foundation in its community. And we want to recognise one special supporter just as we did Ryan Duval last season…
So we’re asking for your help. This is your chance to nominate that special supporter. Get in touch with Reading Football Club and put a deserving loyal Royal forward for our community legacy project 2015-16 – we will then choose the right man, woman, girl or boy and try, in some way, to help them realise their Royals dream.
As it was for Ryan, we want this to be a 'dream come true' experience for one exceptional supporter - so all you have to do is tell us who is most deserving, why, and how you think we might be able to make their dream a reality...
To nominate a Royals supporter worthy of our next project, we need you to fill in the following details…
• Full name of nominee
• In less than 106 words, tell us why you have nominated this person – we want to know all about them!
• What sort of project do you think we could help make true for your nominee? Tell us how we can make a real difference…
Send your nomination to firstname.lastname@example.org or send us a letter in the post to: Dara Thomas, Reading Football Club, Madejski Stadium, J11, M4, Reading, RG2 0FL. Please help us get the ball rolling on another community project to be proud of.
