McShane aiming to make home a fortress at Madejski

5 October 2015

Skipper wants more wins on home soil

Royals captain Paul McShane was delighted to see Madejski Stadium rocking on Saturday afternoon as Reading vanquished second-placed Middlesbrough 2-0 on home soil – and he hopes that there will be plenty more for the home fans to cheer about this season.

“It’s looking good for us,” he said.  “There are some positive signs; we are missing some key players, but it’s a really competitive squad.  That’s only a good thing for everybody because it keeps everyone on their toes and they know that people are waiting on the sideline to come in.

“We know it’s early on in the season and how tight it is at the top of the table, so we just need to keep it going and take each game as it comes because it is a long season.

“I think the fans are really appreciating the lads’ work ethic and style of play. The crowd are making a good noise - I think it’s good if we can make this stadium a really tough place to come.  It should be that way because it’s our own back yard, so we’ve got to keep it going and keep the momentum up.”

Our next match at Madejski Stadium is in less than a fortnight as Charlton are our visitors – click here for ticket information for that game.
