Royals on brink of WSL2 crown

Reading FC Women are still on course to lift the FA Women’s Super League two crown after an impressive victory away from home at third placed Everton.

With promotion already assured the Royals have to match Doncaster Belles' result when the travel to Aston Villa in their final game of the season to ensure the title will be theirs.

A top quality strike from Rachel Rowe and a cute lob from Helen Ward made sure of the points for the Royals as they took back top spot of FA WSL 2 following as a result of their textbook away performance.

The Reading manager Kelly Chambers set up her side to counter attack her tactics were justified after just 15 minutes as the visitors soaked up the early pressure from the hosts before taking the lead. Rowe finished a lovely flowing move when she took advantage of Laura-May Walkley’s skilful lay-off to blast in an angled drive clipping the inside of the post and nestling in the net.

Helen Ward sealed the victory late on when she lobbed the onrushing Levell with Everton’s Gabby George unable to stop the ball crossing the line.

Reading have a seven goal cushion over Doncaster in goal difference putting them in prime position to be crowned champions next weekend.
