Reading take 4-3 victory at Boleyn GroundReading were victors in a behind-closed-doors friendly against West Ham earlier today, as they edged out their hosts by a 4-3 scoreline at Upton Park.
With many of the squad away on international duty, many other players made the trip to East London for a friendly encounter. Lucas Piazon, who chalked up his first competitive goal for Reading against Burnley recently, opened the scoring. Minutes later, Nick Blackman doubled the lead from the penalty spot after James Tomkins committed a foul in the area.
Argentinian striker Mauro Zarate had West Ham level by the interval as he twice found the net, but Reading re-established a two-goal buffer as Aaron Tshibola and a West Ham own-goal put the Royals back in front. Andy Carroll turned in a late goal for the Hammers but Reading held on to leave victorious.
Our first team will be back in competitive action next weekend when Charlton Athletic visit Madejski Stadium on Saturday 17th October for a 3pm kick-off. Click here for ticketing information for that fixture.
