The skipper’s notes: Middlesbrough

3 October 2015

A preview of Paul McShane’s programme column

We welcome Middlesbrough and their supporters that have made the long trip down from Teesside for today’s game at Madejski Stadium.  And our skipper Paul McShane discusses today’s opposition in his captain’s column in ‘The Royal’, our matchday programme.

He writes: “Middlesbrough are another team flying high at the minute. They are a good team… they’ve been a good team for a few years now. I know their assistant manager, Steve Agnew, from our time together at Hull and he’s a good coach so I know they’ll be a well-drilled side and they like to play football the right way. It’s going to be a very tough game but I’m hoping we can finish off on a positive going into the international break next week. I think if we can end this block of games with a win, we’ll look back on it as a great period for us this season.

“However, it is important to remember it is only the beginning of October. There is a long, long road ahead and we’ll need your support to pull us through at times – especially here at the Madejski we need you every step of the way. Our supporters can make such a massive impact and so far this season, you have been fantastic, getting right behind us both at home and on the road. Thank you for your support and keep it up!”

Pick up a copy of ‘The Royal’ around the ground for £3 and read the skipper’s full programme notes.  It’s also full of loads of information about visitors Middlesbrough and an extended interview with Royals defender Michael Hector.

Don’t forget that you can save £3 compared to matchday prices by buying early – book your ticket before midday to make great savings!  Click here for more information.
