Those hardy souls…

21 October 2015

With thanks to our travelling support

It certainly takes a degree of commitment to make a 350-mile round-trip to Yorkshire on a midweek evening to lend support to your team.  Every away day is an investment of time and emotion, and no result is guaranteed.

472 Royals supporters did exactly that on Tuesday evening to see us face Rotherham United – and we want to say a big ‘thank you’ for everyone that has been in our corner so far this season whenever we have been on the road.

When we arrive on another team’s patch, there’s something a bit special about hearing ‘URRRZZZ’ ringing around the stadium when the team come out to warm-up, setting the tone for the match.  The songs, chants, every bit of encouragement and support that we get just proves that we’re all pulling in the same direction.

This Saturday, we’re back on the road again as we take on Fulham at Craven Cottage.  As of Tuesday we had already sold more than 3,500 tickets for the game – that means there’s only a limited supply left and it’s sure to be an electric atmosphere in the away end.  If you want to play your part and get your hands on one of the few remaining tickets, click here for more information.

And of course, your support at Madejski Stadium has been just as important.  At the start of the month, the manager and captain both explained how important your backing here at Madejski Stadium can be – and it was as message you received loud and clear. Our no-show rate from season ticket holders significantly dropped and we welcomed our biggest number of home fans all season for the clash with Aitor Karanka’s men – and, most importantly, with your help we earned wins in our first two home games in October, beating Boro 2-0 and Charlton 1-0 last weekend.

We now have a chance to make it a perfect home return this month with a result against table-topping Brighton on Saturday 31st October, kick-off 3pm. The Seagulls, who have also enjoyed an impressive start to the campaign, will arrive in Berkshire as Championship league leaders.  We hope you will help us to make another big effort again – without you we are nothing.
