Tish enjoying being part of a winning team

Midfielder reflects on Addicks triumph

Royals midfield man Aaron Tshibola was delighted to have secured another victory for the Royals against Charlton Athletic today with a 1-0 win – a result that has helped to cement our position in the upper reaches of the table in these early stages.

The ex-Academy man has quickly made a place for himself in Steve Clarke’s side since returning from his loan spell with Hartlepool, making a contribution in all 14 games to date.  And he lauded the dressing room spirit after the result was confirmed.

“The feeling is great in the camp,” he explained.  “Everyone is buzzing – we just can’t wait for the next game and the next day in training.  Everyone is loving being part of a team that is winning.  It’s a great feeling we’ve got a great bunch of lads and we deserve this, so it’s great at the moment.

“The fans are brilliant, like the roar when we score.  You can see the fans have high expectations wanting more from us sometimes, wanting us to get that breakthrough.  It’s really good it for us, it keeps us pushing and keeps us giving more and it worked because we got the late win today.”

It took until the last 15 minutes to get the breakthrough – Nick Blackman arrived late at the back post to head beyond Addicks stopper Nick Pope for the game’s only goal.

Reading had to show plenty of graft to eventually find a way to break through a bullish visiting defence – that aspect was especially pleasing for Tish.

“It was a great result,” he continued.  “These are the games we’ve got to be winning – it was a tough task, Charlton made it difficult for us in the first half to break them down.  This is what happens sometimes if you are the better team – you have to grind it out and it paid off for us tonight.

“They were on us from the start; we had to react quickly and obviously not take too many touches, but there are no easy games in the Championship so we expect that.

“The last few games it has happened to pay off for us.  Nick Blackman is on fire, but we’ve been working well as a team and we’re grinding out results like this today which is absolutely fantastic for us.”
