Gaffer calling on supporters to keep up their formWe’ve seen our team hit a great vein of results so far in 2015/16 – four wins in the last five league games have pushed Reading to third in the Championship table. This weekend may be our toughest test yet as we host second-placed Middlesbrough at Madejski Stadium on Saturday.
But your support is hitting top form as well. Madejski Stadium has been loud and proud in the new campaign, and boss Steve Clarke feels that the continued support of the Royals fans will be a key factor in making this season a successful one for Reading Football Club.
“Last year I felt as though there was a malaise around the team and the club, and that everything was doom and gloom,” said Clarke. “We freshened the place up over the summer, and we have improved the squad in my opinion. We have a team now that looks like it can be quite exciting.
“The supporters are a key part of this. In the games this year, I’ve felt that the fans are on side. The fans are there and they want their team to do well – they can feel that this team has the chance and the potential to grow into something really good this season. If the fans are with us, we’ve got a chance this year.
“I’ve been at clubs where the fans can be worth a goal and you value the strength of the support. I have been to Madejski Stadium as an opposition manager and when the Reading fans are on form and right behind the team, it is a difficult place to go. That’s what we want to get this season.”
