Midfielder can’t wait for Derby after Ipswich winAfter a 5-1 win against Ipswich took Reading to a third straight victory in all competitions, midfielder Oliver Norwood was already thinking about the chance to get back to action next Tuesday evening when Derby arrive at Madejski Stadium.
It'll be a quick turnaround for the next fixture against the Rams, and the Royals man, who rounded off the scoring, is eagerly anticipating the games ahead.
“The dressing room was in a good place before the game,” explained the midfielder. “We’ve put a decent little run together – we were unbeaten in six game before tonight, and that moves onto seven tonight.
“That’s two league games on the bounce that we’ve won, and we’ve won impressively. The dressing room is buzzing and the games can’t come quickly enough now.
“The performances all season have been really good quality – we’ve just been missing the goals, whereas at Brentford we got three and tonight we got five. They’re starting to go in now and the gaffer is developing a really good squad now.
“We believe in what we’re doing – we’ve worked hard in pre-season on the way we want to play. The manager believes in the players he puts out there. Hopefully we can continue to play the attacking brand of football and get supporters filling the stadium out. That’s what we want – we want the stadium full and the crowd to be loud and come and enjoy the journey.”
Orlando Sa’s hat-trick and a sole strike from Nick Blackman put the Royals into a commanding position, but arguably the best was saved for last when Norwood unleashed a 30-yard belter to wrap up the scoring.
“I’ve seen plenty of them hit the top of the stand!” laughed Norwood. “It was a nice moment – I did say to my wife earlier, ‘I think I’m going to score tonight’. That’s who I dedicated my goal to – she was sat up there in the stands. We had a laugh about it earlier – she said ‘stop saying it, because it’ll never happen!’ Luckily it did, so I can enjoy that one tonight.”
