Williams looking forward to Peru and Brazil friendlies

Midfielder keen to challenge himself against South Americans

The USA have two high-profile friendly fixtures over the international break, as they take on a pair of South American sides on their own turf.  And Royals midfielder Danny Williams, who has been called up to represent the USMNT, is looking forward to competing in some challenging exhibition games.

He could line up against fellow Reading man Paolo Hurtado when USA take on Peru in Washington, D.C. in the early hours of Saturday morning UK time, before taking on five-time World Cup winners Brazil in Foxborough, Massachusetts in the small hours of Wednesday morning.

“They are two great games coming up, as a football player you just want to challenge against the best,” said Williams.  “Obviously I’m looking forward to playing against Paolo.

“And playing Brazil is always one of your best days in your home country.  I’m just looking to learn from the best players and see it as another good experience.

“Obviously we want to win these games, even though they are friendlies.  It’s always a good test to play against the best out there and then we’ll see what we can achieve.

“Last summer we beat Holland and Germany, so I think people know that USA can hurt countries now – but we have to stay calm and work on what the manger tells us to in these games to improve, so we’ll see what happens.”
