Royals defender meets a local team to hand out some footballing advice...
The team were training on the all-weather sports pitches at Ranikhet School in Tilehurst, and were delighted to welcome Anton along to their session and to receive some words of advice from the touchline as they put together their preparation for their weekend game.
Bethel United, who play in the Thames Valley Churches League, have reached the final of the Philmar Cup and will face Brookside St Laurence next month. United have won the trophy on two occasions before, most recently in 2008.
The current contingent spoke to the former Sunderland, QPR and West Ham man about the upcoming final, looking to take some guidance on how to approach the game. Anton, of course, has plenty of Cup experience himself - he was an FA Cup finalist with West Ham in 2006 at the Millennium Stadium!
After the session had ended, Ferdinand chatted with the squad about his career and his life as a professional footballer... as well as posing for some selfies and signing a few shirts, too!
