Loan stars ripple the net in League TwoLoan youngsters Jack Stacey and Tariqe Fosu found the net for Carlisle United and Accrington Stanley respectively in midweek as the two Academy graduates lit up League Two on Tuesday night.
20-year-old winger Fosu carved out a couple of chances and got the match-winner on the stroke of half-time as Stanley cemented their place in second in League Two, keeping up their chase for an automatic promotion place come the end of the season with a vital win over Hartlepool United.
And Stacey, who himself turned 20 earlier this month, found the net for the Cumbrians just after the hour mark in a narrow defeat to Luton Town. The goal wasn't enough to earn United anything from a mid-table encounter with the Hatters, but he received praise for halving the deficit in a 2-1 defeat and for his performance on the night.
Elsewhere, Craig Tanner's Plymouth Argyle triumphed 3–0 against Leyton Orient as the Pilgrims keep up the chase on Fosu's Accrington - Argyle sit just a point behind Stanley in fourth, with three games of the League Two campaign remaining.
Rowan Liburd was an unused substitute as Wycombe could only draw 0–0 with Yeovil Town as a Chairboys play-off chase lost momentum in midweek, while Liam Kelly put in a man of the match performance for Bath City albeit in defeat to Whitehawk at Twerton Park.
Special mention should also be made to centre-back Rob Dickie, who secured promotion back to the Football League last weekend with his loan club Cheltenham Town. Dickie helped Town keep a clean sheet in a 2-0 win over Halifax Town to clinch the National League title as a Robin. Congratulations Rob!
