Reading FC to support LPF campaign this weekendReading Football Club are pleased to support the 2016 Level Playing Field (LPF) Weeks of Action.
LPF is a registered charity in England and Wales, and acts as a campaigning and advisory organisation to its membership and other parties across all sports. Their goal is to remove the barriers that currently exclude disabled people from enjoying live sport.
Their annual Weeks of Action initiative, now in its 11th year, aims to celebrate access and inclusion for disabled sports fans across England and Wales.
This weekend, ahead of our game with Birmingham City, the Royals will be raising awareness for LPF through a video feature on our big Screen and through the support of the team. The video feature will highlight visits which Community Trust ambassador and Reading captain Paul McShane has made in the past few months to meet and talk to disabled children in and around Reading, outlining just some of the great work which Reading FC Community Trust do in the local area.
The Royals proudly provide a number of services for disabled fans on matchdays at Madejski Stadium and more information on these services can be found by clicking here.
Disabled people constitute the largest minority group at around 15% of the population and this number is increasing year on year. Naturally, a large number of disabled people are football fans too and we are pleased to take this opportunity to thank our own disabled fans for their continued loyalty and dedication to the club.
We also appreciate that many disabled people have yet to share the passion and pleasures of being a football fan. The Reading FC Community Trust provide an number of schemes for disabled groups throughout the local community and the club and welcomes disabled fans along with their families and friends.
We are joining together with sports clubs, fans and organisations across England and Wales who are all #united4access and have chosen to share one common message - access and inclusion for all.
