McShane, Quinn and Cooper meet fans in WokinghamRoyals trio Paul McShane, Stephen Quinn and Jake Cooper paid a visit to the Waitrose store in Wokingham on Thursday afternoon to meet fans outside the supermarket, take part in a signing session and offer some advice as the public took part in a keepy-uppy competition.
Reading club partners, Waitrose, organised the event, and there was a good turnout of people all keen to meet Academy graduate Cooper and the two Republic of Ireland internationals, who are vying to represent their nation in the European Championships this summer.
Before queuing up to have a photo with the Royals stars, some of the younger fans took part in a keepy-uppy challenge, as they competed with each other for a prize of two matchday tickets at Madejski Stadium.
In an afternoon filled with laughter (especially from Quinn, Cooper and McShane) the local shoppers seemed to really enjoy meeting and chatting with the Reading players.
Waitrose Wokingham branch manager, Duncan Robertson, said:
“We are proud to support our local club and I know our customers relished the chance to get advice and show off their skills with the experts before shooting around our store.”
Adam Benson, Commercial Director at Reading FC, added:
“We’re very proud of our eight year relationship with Waitrose and it’s great for the players to come and meet members of the community while they are out and about doing their shopping.”
