Check out a range of activites at the Mad Stad as we celebrate 10 years since the record...Ten years ago, to the day tomorrow, Graeme Murty’s match-winning penalty helped Reading break a record that still stands…106!
To mark the anniversary of the day we broke the Football League points record back in 2006, there will be a number of activities taking place around Madejski Stadium before tomorrow’s clash with Preston North End in the Sky Bet Championship.
Ahead of our 3pm kick-off, make sure you pay a visit to the Megastore between 12noon and 2.30pm to get a glimpse of the 2005-06 Championship trophy – the piece of silverware that Murts held aloft after that famous 2-1 win over QPR ten years ago.
Supporters will be able to come along and get a photo with the famous trophy which was paraded around town the following weekend on the open-top bus tour, marking the culmination of an unforgettable season for the club!
And whilst you’re in the Megastore, why not take advantage of some great offers - with free printing on all new purchases of replica shirts or shorts including a mock-up of the 2005-06 shirt itself.
There are further reductions on 2015-16 training wear and you can buy one, get one free on selected t-shirts and polos ready for the summer. Make sure you come by and check out these offers and many more!
Throughout the day we will be playing music from 2005-06 to set the scene, and make sure you’re in the stadium bowl in plenty of time to watch highlights from the 106 season on the big screen and on the concourse televisions.
It will be a total 106 takeover on the big screen in fact – earlier this week we asked you the fans for your input as we look to flood the display with supporters’ pictures and memories from that season!
The Royals rendezvous will be open as ever in the Fan Zone and, due to it’s the popularity in the last couple of fixtures, we will be stocked up with our limited edition 106 ale made by the fans for the fans.
There will also be a DJ in attendance to keep the fans entertained in the build up to the game, while we have published a 106-page matchday programme in honour of the anniversary – be sure to pick up a copy for just £3.
