Be here early for Eamonn tribute

4 August 2016

Fans encouraged to be in their seats by 2:45pm as we pay our respects to Eamonn Dolan

Royals fans are encouraged to be in their seat by 2:45pm this Saturday for our season opener dedicated to Eamonn Dolan. A fitting pre-match video compilation about Eamonn’s life and career will be played on our big screen in the build up to kick-off.

We will be featuring footage of some of the former academy manger’s greatest achievements whilst at Reading Football Club - including our dramatic FA Youth Cup quarter-final win over Liverpool and the two-legged U21s' victory against Manchester City which saw us lift the Premier League Cup at Madejski Stadium.

Fans are also encouraged to be in their seats when the teams walk out of the tunnel, with a Guard of Honour formed by a selection of our current crop of Academy players, set to welcome the Royals and Preston North End onto the pitch at Madejski Stadium - in tribute to Eamonn Dolan. This will be followed by a minute’s applause before kick-off.

Prior to the opening of turnstiles at 1:30pm, we will officially be opening the Eamonn Dolan Stand, with Co-Chairman Sir John Madejski joining members of Eamonn’s family to unveil a plaque in his honour.

Jaap Stam’s side will wear black armbands in memory of a great man and Preston have also confirmed that they will sport black armbands in Eamonn's memory.
