Reading midfielder wants Royals to take positive momentum with them to Wales...Royals midfielder George Evans is expecting a tough test in Cardiff as Reading look to pick up their first win on the road in the 2016/17 Championship campaign.
The 21-year-old is enjoying a good atmosphere in the Reading squad at the moment, and he hopes that that feel-good factor can correlate to a positive performance and result on Saturday.
“We know it’s going to be a tough game against Cardiff,” admitted Evans. “But we’re going to go there with confidence.
“The way we are playing football now is really good, it’s a really positive place to be at the moment and we want to take that into Saturday.
“We want to go there, get the win and put on a good performance there too. Like everyone says, every game is tough in the Championship but you’ve got to really work hard and we’ve been doing that.”
The Royals did well to grind out a result in mid-week when MK Dons took Jaap Stam’s side to extra-time and penalties in the EFL Cup.
Evans feels the team displayed a good fighting spirit during a topsy-turvy cup tie, something they will have to reproduce on a regular basis in the league to earn valuable points both away and at home.
“I thought the lads dug in well on Tuesday night, it was very pleasing to get the result in the end, because everyone put in a big shift," said the former Manchester City man.
“It would have been good to win the game in 90 minutes, but ultimately I think it was a good test for us.
“Some of the lads that haven’t played so much this season got a good to get a few minutes in the legs, and after putting so much in we were very pleased to get through.
“We’ll be going to Cardiff to fight for a result," he continued. "Obviously we’re playing some good stuff right now, so on Saturday hopefully we can turn that into three points."
