Martin Kuhl’s Royals got off to a strong start in their league campaign, with an impressive 2-0 victory away to Arsenal in the opening game of the season.
Tuesday’s defeat at Hogwood at the hands of Spurs – their first in the league this season – was a setback for the U23s… but Friday evening presents the opportunity for a quick response with a game against a strong City side.
This will be the first of four games Premier League 2 games played at Madejski Stadium in new league format which sees the age level raised from U21 to U23 for the 2016/17 season.
The other three fixtures will be home matches against Chelsea on September 19th, Arsenal on April 24th, and concluding with a clash with Sunderland on May 8th in the final game of the season.
Friday’s game will be a great chance for Royals fans to come and see the latest crop of Reading’s best young talent from our successful Academy, as they look to consolidate their position in a league alongside some of the country’s biggest clubs.
City have won their only Premier League 2 game of the campaign so far, also claiming all three points against the Gunners in as tight affair at the Etihad the game ending 1-0 to the Citizens.
Free parking will also be available to all fans attending the match with entry to the stadium through the West Stand Lower turnstiles (Gates 1 & 4). Food will also be on offer from the West Stand Lower kiosks.
