2 youth games in 2 days at Madejski Stadium!

13 December 2016

U23s and U18s playing on home soil this week…

We’ve got a feast of football at Madejski Stadium this week – two youth team games in the space of two days!

It’s your chance to come and see some of our young prospects in action on first-team soil.

Let’s look ahead to what’s in store…

Reading U23 vs Hertha Berlin II
Premier League International Cup
Wednesday 14th December, 7pm
Free entry (enter via East Stand Gate 7), free parking

Our Under-23s have been marginally edged out in each of their two previous group games in the Premier League International Cup meetings – firstly with a 2-1 defeat away at Everton, and then 3-2 at Adams Park against Athletic Bilbao.

And while progressing from the group is no longer possible, we’ve got one last match against international opposition in the form of German giants Hertha Berlin.

The Bundesliga side currently top the group – they drew their fixture with Bilbao in Brighton before beating the Toffees.  And with only one team progressing automatically, our result will have a bearing on which team reaches the knock-outs.

It’s a chance for Martin Kuhl’s boys to get back to winning ways – after overcoming Stoke in the Premier League Cup at Madejski Stadium recently, a young group were defeated 2-1 at Man City last weekend.

All entry and parking is completely free for this fixture!

Reading U18 vs Manchester City U18
FA Youth Cup, third round
Thursday 15th December, 7pm
Entry £3 for Adults, £1 for 65 & Over and 17 & Under (enter via East Stand Gate 7), free parking

With 64 teams still left in the competition, two of the highest-ranks sides in the FA Youth Cup have been drawn against each other.

Man City lead the U18 Premier League North, while the Royals currently lie second in the U18 Premier League South.

David Dodds’ boys progressed through to the quarter-final stage last year… to stand a chance of repeating that feat, they’ll need to do what no other team has been able to this season – beat City!

It’s the premier tournament for youth footballers, so make sure you come and get behind our boys – one way or another, the tie will be settled on the night, even if that means extra time and penalties…

Entry is just £3 Adults and £1 Concessions, with free parking – so come and get behind our talented young prospects!
