Ahead of the game: A battle on Boxing Day

26 December 2016

A preview of our meeting with the Canaries

Reading v Norwich City
Madejski Stadium
Sky Bet Championship
Monday 26th December 2016, 3pm

It’s set to be a great occasion – there’ll be virtually no seats unmanned in the home stands at Madejski Stadium for our Boxing Day clash against Norwich.

And it’s a chance to keep up some rather impeccable home form – we’ve won the last four on the spin on our patch.

The Canaries have struggled for some consistency in recent weeks – but they still possess a squad chockful of players with Premier League experience.

So our boys will have to be on their game if they want to reach the midpoint of the campaign on a positive note and celebrate a festive win.

Tickets for this fixture are now extremely limited in all home areas of the ground.

We strongly advise any supporters who are collecting tickets on matchday to arrive by 1.30pm on matchday, as we are expecting large queues.

Please see the full ticket information for this game by clicking here.

Ticket Bundles are now also available to buy online! Click here for more information about how you can buy your 4-Match Bundle and redeem games from wherever you are.

We kindly remind supporters that there are no trains to or from Reading station on Boxing Day.  Football buses are running the usual service.

Costco are offering an additional 700 parking spaces to supporters for this fixture, just a short walk from the ground – all proceeds are being donated to BBC Children in Need. Click here for more information.

On a matchday, only very limited overflow parking is available at the stadium for £8 – we advise supporters to consider one of our off-site car parks. Non-Permit holders enter the Stadium via Northern Way only and Permit holders enter via Hurst Way and Northern Way.

If you have a child under the age of 12 in your car, you will be eligible to park in our special family parking area for £8 – spaces are available in advance by phoning the Ticket Office on 0118 968 1313 or visiting the Ticket Office in person. If purchasing in advance, parking permits will be posted or available for collection from the Main Ticket Office prior to matchday.

Andy Davies is the ref – his third time at Madejski Stadium this season.  So far, he has overseen our 1-0 win against Preston on the opening weekend and our 2-0 triumph over Nottingham Forest in October.

Darren Blunden and Daniel Leach are the two assistants for this fixture, while Andy Woolmer is the fourth official.

Sky Bet, EFL title partners, have visitors Norwich as favourites at 6/4, while a Reading win is priced 9/5 and a draw is 23/10.

Leading scorer Garath McCleary is 9/4 to net anytime in the 90 minutes, while Roy Beerens, who scored a double last time at home against Sheffield Wednesday, is 3/1 to score again.

There is a revamped concourse menu in place for the 2016/17 season, details of which can be found by clicking here. Make sure you take advantage of our contactless payment points situated all around the stadium concourses highlighted by the yellow contactless sign & a yellow t-shirt which says “I take contactless”.

Piglets, our pie supplier, are offering ‘pies of the month’ throughout the season – December's offering is a Christmas pie, Butternut Squash & Spicy Veg or Veggie Sausage Roll.

Kingsley Kids Bags are also a convenient way of getting food for young supporters delivered straight to your seat! Click here to find out more.

Young supporters can visit the Royals Fun Zone, just outside the Eamonn Dolan Stand, Gate 6. Football based games will be available for young fans to put their skills to the test! The Fun Zone will also be open at half-time for supporters to come and have fun.

And thanks to our Official Pouring Rights Partner, Heineken, Royals fans can enjoy a beverage at the Fan Zone before the game. Located outside the East Stand, the area is an ideal place to catch up and enjoy a drink with fellow fans before the action kicks off!

Don’t forget to get your Golden Gamble ticket – the draw, sponsored by STAR, will be made at half-time. Tickets can be purchased from designated sellers based around the stadium, for just £1. There are two prizes up for grabs: a cash prize or an item of Reading FC merchandise, signed by the team! All funds go to the Reading FC Community Trust.
