Blackett: ‘We want to put it right’

Tyler Blackett previews tonight's clash with the Cottagers

Royals defender Tyler Blackett says the Reading squad will be looking to build on Boxing Day’s win and are determined to take three points from the evening clash with Fulham.

Following the heavy defeat in West London earlier in the season, Blackett and the rest of the team are hungry for a positive result at Madejski Stadium against the Cottagers, as they go in search of a sixth straight win at home.

“The last time we played Fulham we had a poor result,” admitted the former Manchester United man. “We want to put that right and continue what we’ve been doing.”

“We know sometimes in a game we may struggle but we know that if we stay together and keep our momentum we can stay strong at moments when it’s needed.”

A hard fought win against Norwich four days ago was a victory Blackett particularly enjoyed, with the Royals having their biggest home gate of the season for the Canaries clash.

The left-back is hoping for another good crowd against Fulham after and exciting Boxing Day game at Madejski Stadium, and feels everyone - players and fans alike - are now really buying into the team’s philosophy which is reaping its rewards with results on the pitch.

“We enjoy playing at home and against Norwich there were a few more fans that came along which is good for us,” reflected the defender. “Obviously it shows that the fans are supporting us in what we’re trying to do so hopefully we can make it another win.

“I try to be relaxed as I can be on the pitch so I can always focus on what I need to do, he continued. “We try to be entertaining as a team and do as the manager wants us to do, we like to win in a good way and it’s good for the fans to see that as well.”
