Huish Park visit set for January
Reading will visit Yeovil Town on Tuesday 10th January 2017 in the third round of the Checkatrade Trophy for a 7.45pm kick-off.
A dramatic penalty shoot-out win for the Royals on Wednesday evening in Southampton earned the youngsters a chance to visit Huish Park and vie for a play in the quarter-final of this year’s competition.
We’ve already met the Glovers once this season in the tournament – a young Reading side were defeated 2-0 by our visitors at Madejski Stadium in the final group game thanks to goals by Tom Eaves and Francois Zoko, but both sides qualified for the knock-out stages.
And Yeovil swept MK Dons aside in the second round – they were losing at the interval, but came back to win 4-1 in the second half, ensuring their place in the hat for this stage.
Six other third-round ties will take place on the same evening, as well as Cheltenham’s fixture with Leicester to decide who hosts Bradford in the third round.
It means that our Premier League 2 fixture against Southampton U23, which was due to take place on Monday 9th January at Adams Park, will be rearranged for a different date.
Ticket information for travelling supporters at this fixture will be announced in due course.
