Swift reflects on Norwich triumphJohn Swift, who returned to action against Norwich on Boxing Day, was happy to return to a side sitting pretty in the Championship table – third at the half-way stage.
“The atmosphere in the dressing room is very good, every player wants to be in the position we’re in at the moment,” said Swift. “But we can’t look too far in the future. We’ve got to keep looking at each game as it comes and keep it going.
“Norwich are a great team, they’re on a bit of a bad run at the moment but we can’t let them off with anything and they’ve come here in a bit of a bad spell for them.”
“We had to do our job today and we did it well. It’s going to be a hard second half of the season, but the players around the training pitch are all buzzing. Hopefully we can just keep this run going. If we keep going the way we are, I think we’ll do well.”
The second half of the Championship season begins on Friday against Fulham at Madejski Stadium – it offers a chance to take a sixth win on the spin at home and avenge defeat at Craven Cottage earlier this month.
“Every game in the Championship is a hard game,” he continued. “I know it sounds like every player who says it, but it’s true. Any team can win, any team can lose, so we can’t look too far ahead.
“We’ve got Fulham coming up next which is obviously a huge game for us. They’re on a bit of a run at the moment so it should be a good game.”
