Moore wants a return to winning ways against Wednesday...Royals defender Liam Moore is hoping the team will return to winning ways on Saturday when they face Sheffield Wednesday in the Sky Bet Championship.
The centre-half wants Reading to start picking up points again and says December is an important month for results with the club currently third in the table as they welcome the sixth placed Owls to Berkshire at the weekend.
“I think I’ve seen somewhere yesterday that everyone in the top six is playing each other this weekend,” said Moore. “December is a vital month, it is very important that we pick up some points not just at home but also on the road and we keep ourselves in the mix heading into the New Year.”
“If people look at the way we have been this season, the times we have lost games we have come back strongly and gone on a little run and I don’t see why we can’t do that again this month.”
Moore, who missed last weekend’s defeat to Fulham due to suspension, is looking forward to getting back on the pitch come 3pm on Saturday and says the squad have been training hard during the week to make sure there is a positive reaction after the result at Craven Cottage.
“I hate missing games and I can’t wait to be back out there and playing again,” admitted the defender. “I want to try and make up from a bit of lost time after a couple of weeks on the side-lines.
“The reaction is important. So far from what we’ve seen in the week the reaction has been positive, we need to put the last result to bed and move on from it.
“We’ve got some tough games coming up in the next few weeks, but we’re focussed completely on Saturday, we’ll be looking for maximum points like we do everywhere we go and we’ll be positive and we want to improve not only on the performance but on the result on Saturday.”
“We know it’s going to be a very tough game, he continued. “So far the Madejski has been a good place to play our football and we hope to carry that on.”
The former Leicester defender is prepared for another physical battle against the Owls and says the team will be going into detail on their striking options to make sure the Royals are as solid as possible defensively.
“We’ve had a brief look at some of their strikers and we will do so again in more detail on Friday and on Saturday morning,” revealed Moore. “We’ve played against some very physical players in this league and Sheffield Wednesday will be no different.
“This weekend is definitely going to be another tough game, you can go down the fixture list in the league and maybe in the Premier League you can look and circle where you can pick up three points here and there, but in the Championship it's relentless.”
