The Reading FC Former Players’ Association are pleased to announce the next in their very successful and popular series of evenings with former club icons.

Two key members of Steve Coppell’s  2005/06 Championship winning management team, Kevin Dillon and Wally Downes - both often deemed outspoken and controversial - will talk about their extensive playing and coaching careers, but particularly their time at Madejski Stadium.

The two men will appear at the Tilehurst Royal British Legion club, Downing Road, Reading RG31 5BB on Thursday, 10 March 2016. Doors and the bar open at 6.30pm with the evening starting at 7.30pm.

BBC Radio Berkshire sports commentator and former Reading FC captain Ady Williams will once again host the evening and lead a conversation with Kevin and Wally in his customary open, relaxed and attentive manner before opening the floor to a question and answer session with the audience.

A member of Wimbledon’s infamous Crazy Gang, Wally played over 200 League games for ‘The Dons’ before concentrating on coaching and management.

As a highly respected coach, Wally served with Crystal Palace, Reading, Southampton and West Ham United.

As Reading’s defensive coach, Downes was a major reason behind Reading's impressive defensive display during the 2005–06 Championship winning season, where Reading had the best defensive record in the entire English football pyramid and were promoted to the Premier League with a record 106 points.

A vastly experienced player, Kevin played over 560 times in a 17-year Football League career with Birmingham City, Portsmouth, Newcastle United and Reading. He was capped once for England Under-21s.

Kevin joined Reading in 1991 as a midfielder, making over 100 appearances for ‘The Royals’ and was an integral part of the football club for over 16 years as academy coach, reserve team manager, first team coach and caretaker manager.
