West Brom to visit Reading in FA Cup fifth round
West Bromwich Albion’s penalty shoot-out victory away at Peterborough United on Wednesday evening means that they will be our visitors in the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday 20th February.
The Baggies were taken to a replay by the Posh, who secured a 2-2 draw on their visit to The Hawthorns. And in their second meeting at London Road, the teams couldn’t be separated after 120 minutes… but from the spot-kicks, Albion secured passage to round five – and a visit to Madejski Stadium!
We have already beaten Huddersfield (5-2) and Walsall (4-0) on home turf so far this season in the cup… and now the Baggies will put their Barclays Premier League calendar on ice while they scrap it out with the Royals for a place in the quarter-final.
West Brom in the fifth round of the FA Cup… sound familiar? We’ve been here before, in 2009/10 – we needed a replay on that occasion, but Brian McDermott and his Royals side defeated the Baggies 3-2 after extra-time on a trip to the Midlands. Brian Howard took us to an extra 30 with a goal in the final minute of the 90, before Gylfi Sigurdsson sealed a win with a long-range drive!
Tickets are already on sale – and at just £10 Adults and £5 all Concessions for a meeting with our Premier League guests, we hope for some great home support as we go on the hunt for a place in the last eight. Click here for ticket information, including how to buy.
