McDermott gives injury update on Williams and Vydra

Royals boss hopeful of midfielder’s return

Reading boss Brian McDermott is hopeful that Danny Williams will come through the next few training sessions unscathed to be available to meet Charlton on Saturday, but feels that Matej Vydra’s inclusion at The Valley is unlikely.

American midfielder Williams has missed the last three fixtures through injury, whilst Czech forward Vydra played half an hour from the bench in the FA Cup against West Brom last weekend before sitting out the midweek Championship clash with Rotherham.

“Danny will hopefully come through training today and tomorrow and then be available, but Matej possibly won’t be available this weekend,” said the manager.

He continued: “It has been a knee injury for Danny, and it is a slight hamstring injury for Matej.  He played 30 minutes in the game against West Brom and did really well.  He’s being well looked-after now so if not this week, then the following week.”
