Striker extends loan deal until MayForward Dominic Samuel has extended his loan deal with Sky Bet League One side Gillingham until the end of the season.
The Gills currently occupy the second automatic promotion place in the table, just three points shy of leaders Burton Albion. The standand loan runs until Sunday 8th May, with the option to retain his services for the play-offs if necessary.
Samuel has started on each of his 13 appearances for the Gills – he found the back of the net just six minutes into his debut against Bury, and has registered a total of five goals for the Kent outfit so far.
The Gills’ next opposition is Swindon, who visit Priestfield on Saturday.
Speaking to the press last week, Reading manager Brian McDermott said, “For Dominic’s development, it will be really important for him if he can play a full season and be successful – which he has been so far at Gillingham. We can keep watching him doing his stuff there before he comes back to us in the summer with a full season under his belt.
“He is getting stronger all the time, he is scoring goals and his movement is terrific. It is better for us in the long run for him to stay with Gillingham for the remainder of the season than to take him back now.”
Meanwhile Scotland Under-21 international defender Dominic Hyam has joined League Two outfit Dagenham & Redbridge on a youth loan until Saturday 5th March.
Hyam will link up with former Royal Jamie Cureton at Victoria Road, and could make his Football League bow as early as this weekend as the Daggers visit Cambridge United.
