Williams and Ferdinand discuss Tractor Boys preparation

Royals duo preview Ipswich Town visit

Anton Ferdinand and Danny Williams each gave an insight into the preparations for Tuesday evening’s visit to Ipswich Town, who will play host in our Championship meeting.

Defender Anton played seven games in February for the Royals, and was more than happy to be back to action so soon after the cup tie against Walsall.

“We’ve done that for the majority of the season,” said Anton, of the two-games-a-week schedule.  “For me personally, I’m just happy to be playing games.  I’ve shown that I can play Tuesday-Saturday, and I’m raring to go again on Tuesday.

“I’m enjoying being out on the pitch – as I’ve said on many occasions this season, I’m enjoying showing people what I can do, whereas last year they didn’t know.”

Similarly, midfielder Williams wasn’t getting carried away with a crushing 4-0 triumph against Walsall at the weekend – he hopes that the team will be fully prepared to take that performance into the Portman Road fixture.

“The most important thing is that we don’t really celebrate tonight – we have to get our preparation right and rest well,” said the USA international after Saturday’s meeting with the Saddlers.  “There’s no room for being satisfied – we all know that we have given too many points away in the league, and we are going to Ipswich hoping to win.

“That starts straight after the Walsall game – everyone should go home, relax, watch a bit of TV and get an early night.

“The manager is very good – he is always prepared.  And we have to get our performances from the FA Cup into the league, because first and foremost we are a Championship team and we want to get out of this division.

“There are still a lot of points to pick up – so we just have to focus on Ipswich on Tuesday.”
