A preview of the Robins’ visit to Madejski Stadium
Reading vs Bristol City
Saturday 2nd January 2016, 3pm
Sky Bet Championship
As we usher in a new year, we'll be hoping to get off to a perfect start with three points against Steve Cotterill's Bristol City side - our first visitors of 2016.
It offers an opportunity to register a seasonal double over the Robins, following on from an early-season win at Ashton Gate - quick-fire goals from Nick Blackman and Garath McCleary helped to sink the hosts that afternoon.
They will certainly be no pushovers though. The Robins have upset some big hitters this season; Middlesbrough, Nottingham Forest and Wolves have all come unstuck.
Not that that will deter Brian McDermott's men - make sure you're here to welcome us into 2016 in a positive fashion!

Don’t forget that you can save £3 and avoid the matchday queues by buying before midday on matchday!
We would urge any supporters that are collecting or buying tickets on matchday at Madejski Stadium to arrive as early as possible. We are expecting more collections than usual because of Christmas post, therefore there could be long queues.

We welcome referee Darren Handley as the first man on whistle in 2016 - it will be only his third ever outing in the Championship, and just his second of the season after overseeing a score draw against MK Dons and Fulham last month. He has flashed the red card on four occasions since the start of the season, most recently to Millwall goalkeeper Jordan Archer, in a 3-0 win for Gillingham in which Dominic Samuel twice hit the net.
Akil Howson and Marc Wilson are Handley's assistants for the afternoon, while fourth official is Frederick Graham.
Reading are priced odds-on for a victory according to Football League title partners Sky Bet - 19/20 is the going for a Royal win, while visitors Bristol City are outsiders at 3/1 and a draw is 23/10.
Garath McCleary is 7/2 to make it goals in back-to-back games with a goal at any time, while leading goalscorer Nick Blackman is 4/1 to grab the first goal of the game.
Thanks to our Official Pouring Rights Partner, Heineken, Royals fans can enjoy a beverage at the brand new ‘Royals Rendezvous’ before the game. Located outside the East Stand the new area is an ideal place to catch up and enjoy a drink with fellow fans before the action kicks off!
Unfortunately the Royals Fun Zone will not be open at this game because of the weather.
And don’t forget to get your Golden Gamble ticket – the draw, sponsored by STAR, will be made at half-time. Tickets can be purchased from designated sellers based around the stadium, for just £1. There are two prizes up for grabs: a cash prize or an item of Reading FC merchandise, signed by the team! All funds go to the Reading FC Community Trust. We don’t have many sellers attending the game – so make sure you get your ticket whenever you spot an opportunity!
