Ahead of the game: Royals vs Huddersfield

19 January 2016

A preview of the Terriers’ visit to Madejski Stadium

Reading vs Huddersfield Town
Tuesday 19th January 2016, 8pm
FA Cup, third round replay
Madejski Stadium

We couldn’t be separated after 90 minutes when we met in West Yorkshire – so we welcome Huddersfield Town back to Madejski Stadium for a midweek FA Cup replay, with a place in round four on offer for the victors.

The game swung one way and then the other at John Smith’s Stadium – Matej Vydra and Hal Robson-Kanu overturned a deficit for the Royals, but the Terriers took the tie back to Berkshire with a stoppage-time penalty.

There won’t be any parity at the end of the game this midweek – should the scores end level, the prospect of extra-time and penalties is looming  Should we claim victory, Walsall will be the next hurdle, after they saw off Championship side Brentford in their previous meeting.

So let’s hope that this can be the start of another FA Cup adventure…

Oliver Langford will be on duty as referee for our game against the Terriers – it is his third outing of the season in the FA Cup.  He took charge when FC United of Manchester’s run was finally ended at home to Chesterfield, as well as Nottingham Forest’s home win against QPR.  Langford was also in charge when we visited KC Stadium, losing narrowly to Hull City.

Running the lines as assistants will be Lloyd Wood and Rob Smith, and Andy Davies is on duty as fourth official.

We are 11/10 to secure a place in the next round with a win in 90 minutes on the night, with Football League title partners Sky Bet.  On the other hand, visitors Huddersfield are 12/5 for a win at the end of 90 minutes, and odds are also priced at 12/5 for the game to go to extra time.  We are 8/13 to win the tie in any method – that includes an AET victory or penalties.

Meanwhile you can get odds of 9/1 on Matej Vydra and Hal Robson-Kanu both to score, as they did when the teams met in Huddersfield.

The best way to follow the game live is at Madejski Stadium in person, by getting behind the team!
