Visitors to be decided by a replayReading will host either West Bromwich Albion or Peterborough in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Mark Lawrenson pulled out ball number 5 – the Royals – at the draw, which was hosted at stadium:mk. Ruud Gullit then picked out number 1, which will be the winner of the replayed game between the Baggies and the Posh.
Peterborough twice pegged back West Brom in their first meeting – Shaq Coulthirst and Jon Taylor each levelled after a brace of Saido Berahino strikes to force a 2-2 draw and a replay at London Road. The replay is due to take place on the week commencing Monday 8th February.
If it is West Brom that win the replay, it will mirror the fifth round draw in the 2009/10 season – we were held to a 2-2 draw at Madejski Stadium, before grabbing an incredible last-minute equaliser in the replay at the Hawthorns and winning it through Gylfi Sigurdsson in extra time. The Baggies were our third round opponents the next season – Shane Long scored the only goal that day, en route to consecutive quarter-final appearances.
We have only once been drawn against Peterborough – a 0-0 draw at London Road in the 1991/92 season meant an Elm Park replay, which we won by a 1-0 scoreline.
Ties are due to take place on the weekend between Friday 19th and Monday 22nd February. We will announce ticket details and prices in due course, once we learn our opponents.
