Calling on fan-power for our FA Cup tie!

26 January 2016

£10 Adults, £5 Concessions in advance!

The next hurdle on our FA Cup adventure is Walsall, who visit Madejski Stadium on Saturday 30th January (kick-off 3pm) – and we want you to join us on the journey!

Our third round replay at Madejski Stadium was an eventful affair for sure.  After going 2-0 down, the Royals responded in perfect fashion – Lucas Piazon began the comeback, Matej Vydra netted a first career hat-trick, and Alex Fernandez registered his first Royals goal in a 5-2 triumph!

Walsall, currently third in League 1, have overcome Fleetwood, Chesterfield and Brentford – and will be looking to take another scalp when they arrive in their numbers… so that’s why we need our home support to help us put together another memorable run in the world’s oldest cup competition.

Here is what our playing staff have had to say about the influence of the Reading fans in recent weeks…

Brian McDermott

“The camaraderie in that dressing room, going over to the fans at the end of the game as one, it showed everyone is going in the same direction - and that is really important. That’s the identity I’m talking about.”

Matej Vydra

“When you hear the fans it is very special.  It makes you feel like you are flying and makes you play to a higher level.”

Danny Williams

“The fans are so important for me personally or for us as a team. Every fan that comes to watch us we try to work as hard as we can for them because we really appreciate their loyalty to the club and their effort. We want to show on the pitch that we fight for each other and the fans.”

Oliver Norwood

“I think the fans have been fantastic, they really have stuck by us. There have been some frustrating times this season when we haven’t picked up the results we’ve wanted and a couple of performances haven’t been up to scratch but they’ve stuck with us.”

Chris Gunter

“We need the fans – when your legs start to tire and the fans are behind you, it makes a difference. Fans don’t always realise how important they are – over the course of this season they have really helped us.”
