McDermott relishing home return in the Cup

Manager previews Huddersfield tie

Royals manager Brian McDermott can’t wait to get back to action on Tuesday evening at Madejski Stadium, as Huddersfield come to town for an FA Cup third round replay.

For Reading, it offers an early opportunity to banish the disappointment of the weekend defeat away at MK Dons.

After three consecutive away fixtures, the tie with the Terriers is the first of back-to-back home fixtures, with Sheffield Wednesday our next visitors on Saturday afternoon.

“We’ve got a big game now against Huddersfield – we look forward to playing back at Madejski,” said McDermott.

“We’ve got two games back at home, which is great for us.

“I like to get as many games as possible – we’ll feel the hurt of the game against MK Dons and we’ll get ourselves back to Reading, and we’ll prepare ourselves for the game on Tuesday night.

“If we could get straight back out there now, we’d all get back out there and try to put things right.  All we can do is put it right on Tuesday.”
