Royals or Terriers to host the Saddlers in the FA Cup

11 January 2016

FA Cup fourth round details from Monday night’s draw

Either Reading or Huddersfield Town will host Walsall in the fourth round of this season’s FA Cup.

First and foremost, the Terriers will first visit Madejski Stadium in the third round replay after the sides ended their John Smith’s Stadium tie in a 2-2 draw on Saturday.

Whichever side wins that fixture, which takes place on Tuesday 19th January (8pm), will be visited by the Saddlers.

Reading have twice been drawn against Walsall in the competition – a 1-0 win at Elm Park saw the Royals through in the 1951/52 season, but the Saddlers knocked Reading out at Madejski Stadium in 2002/03 on penalties, after the teams were all square after an initial fixture and a replay.

League 1 side Walsall have already won three fixtures to make it to this stage.  A 2-0 win in the first round at home against Fleetwood was followed by a shoot-out win at the next stage against Chesterfield.  Sam Mantom’s sole goal helped the visiting Saddlers defeat Brentford on their trip to West London in round three at the weekend.

The fourth round fixtures will take place across the weekend of Friday 29th January and Monday 1st February.  Currently we have a Championship fixture scheduled to take place away at Ipswich Town on Saturday 30th January – if either Reading or Ipswich book a fourth-round place via a replay, this fixture will be rearranged.
